Finishes
There are no known restrictions on the type of finishes available. Any finish that can be used in any other building system will work, but some finishes are better suited from a cost and performance stand point thanothers. For example, if you really want a plank exterior, such as Hardieplank or even real wood siding, this can definitely be done, but has no performance advantage and it costs more than stucco. A further example; a smooth concrete interior wall that is painted or acid stained is not a pretty as Italian limestone plaster, but it is far less expensive and can be pressure washed clean with virtually no stain left if the structure is ever flooded.
The choice of finishes is always a balancing act of three factors:
1) Cost
2) Your Desires
3)Suitability to site conditions / performance
For most of North America, we have found that the most economical, versatile and reliable finish is a white Portland cement based stucco mix with micro-fibers in it. It makes a great authentic stuccofor the exterior, and you can use this same mix on the interior walls and steel trowel it flat and then use a good masonry primer and then paint it any color you want. The integral white color of the stucco mix, then covered by the white ( or pre-tinted ) primer makes the final appearance of the paint much better and allows you to choose a wider range of brighter, lighter colors.
Real brick and stone make excellent finishes for our structures; no cavity or space between the structural wall and the brick veneer is needed. Our walls allow you to mortar the brick or stone directly to the wall. Real brick and stone naturally represent the upper end of cost for exterior finishes.
We also offer vertical concrete stamping and a variety of interior plastering products such as:
Flex-C-Ment
FirmoLux
Master of Plaster
Izonil
We are always on the lookout for new possibilities for finishes.
